Sprint Team Coaches

Reidar started paddling with SCKC in canoe as a bantam. He had the privilege of having a place on the Junior National team from 2011-2015. During this time he raced in several Lake Placid International Regattas, 2 Olympic Hopes Regattas, and one Junior World Championship. Reidar has coached at SCKC since 2016. He is currently a student and Cheerleader at Washington State University.
Azusa began racing canoe with SCKC when she was 10. She was competed for the US on the Junior National team in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2014, she won bronze in C1 200m at the Olympic Hopes Regatta. She raced two years at Olympic Hopes Regatta, three years at the Junior World Championships and at the PanAm Championships in canoe. Azusa is currently a student at Dalhousie University.
Sakura started paddling with SCKC when she was 10 years and competed with the team up to 2015 after which she began coaching the juniors. She competed at Sprint Nationals 2011-2015, competing in both individual kayak, team kayak and team canoe events. She is a student at UW and coaches with SCKC during the summer and one of the main coaches for the development program.
Margaret started paddling with SCKC as a young bantam and competed with the team up to 2015 when she went to college. She competed at Sprint Nationals many years in both individual and team kayak events. She is a student in Portland and is one of the lead coaches for the development program.
Evan started kayaking in San Diego at age 9. He raced at OHR in 2016 and 2017, in addition to Junior Worlds in 2018 as a 1000m athlete. He started coaching the Junior Racing Team in San Diego, and is continuing to coach in Seattle after becoming a freshman at the University of Washington.
Angela began racing canoe with SCKC when she was 13. She was selected for the Junior National team and raced in the Junior World Championships (two years) and the PanAm Championships, where she took 5 bronze medals in C1 and C2. She has been a coach for SCKC since 2010. She got her nursing degree at WSU, and returned to Seattle where she is a maternity nurse.
Eli is team manager. She rowed crew in college for 4 years. After taking a 10-year break from water sports to be a big-wall climber, she and her family embarked on 10 years of wilderness canoeing in BC and AK. In 2015, she took up sprint kayak and competed at the 2015, '16 and '17 Nationals. She is a PSIA Level III certified ski instructor and has been coaching for 25+ years at Snoqualmie where she runs a large junior nordic ski program.
