Club Benefits

The Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club offers both competitive and recreational activities for flatwater canoeists and kayakers. Adult membership gives paddlers access to club equipment for use on Green Lake, and through a check-out process, for use on local lakes and rivers. The club has over 80 boats, including Olympic style racing canoes and kayaks, recreational canoes, marathon canoes and surf skis.

How to Join or Renew

  1. Call or stop by the Green Lake Small Craft Center office to pay annual dues. The office is open M-F during noon – 6:30 pm. Office phone is 206-684-4074.
  2. The following is required for membership: 
  • a signed risk & release form
  • a signed SCKC Operating Rules agreement
  • dues ($395/year)
  • current float test
  • current SafeSport certification (available through an American Canoe Association membership)
  • orientation attendance
  • participation in club volunteer activities

Float Test – May be done at any Seattle Parks Pool, during Open Swim or Family Swim times. A float test is good for three years. Submit the original and make a copy for your records.  Red Cross-certified life guards may submit a copy of their certificate instead.

Membership is annual and expires on December 31st.

Membership Types and Fees

  • Adult Membership: $395 per year for persons 18 years of age and older. It entitles the individual all privileges of membership.  SCKC also offers a pro-rated fee from July through December of $200 for one regular adult member. 
  • 2nd Adult Household member – $90 per year for additional adult family members living in the same household, excluding institutional living situations (e.g., fraternities, sororities). Pro-rating is not available.
  • Child Household member: $50 per year for all persons under the age of 18 in the household of an adult member. Pro-rating is not available.

SCKC Advisory Council Meetings

Advisory Council meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 pm, at the Green Lake Community Boathouse in the 2nd floor conference room.
