Eric Hughes Regatta

 

2026 DATE: Saturday November 7, 2026

2.5, 5 and 10k distance regatta

 

2025 Details (for reference, 2026 will be updated closer to event):

  • Cost: If you are in the Frostbite Camp, the race is included in the camp fee. If you are not in the camp, $30 for ACA member; $35 for non-ACA member (incl. 1 day membership). 
  • Payment: Please call the office to pay by credit card 206-684-4074 (or pay day of at the registration table).
  • Divisions: Peewee (U12), Bantam, Juvie, Junior, Senior (19-29), Masters A/B (30-59), Masters C (60+), Para.
  • Craft: K1, C1, K2, C2, Surfski, OC-1 or Vaa, SUP
  • Distances: 2.5km (SUP, PeeWee and Bantam K1/K2, C1/C2), 5km (all age classes and crafts); 10km (all age classes except PeeWee, all crafts except SUP)
  • Registration for race
    • If you are in a club, your coach enters your registration. Coaches enter paddlers, both those in the camp and those not in camp, onto this spreadsheet.
    • If you are unaffiliated (not part of a club that is participating in the camp), register on webscorer.

2025 Schedule Saturday November 8th:

  • 8:30-9:30 Pay and pick up your number.  Clubs should can call the office to via credit card or pay with one check for all their paddlers
  • 8:30-9:30 No day of race registration. Use the webscorer registration up to noon on Nov 7th. 
  • 9:30am Pre-race meeting
  • 10:00am 2.5km and 5km starts
  • 10:45am 10km start
  • 12:30pm Awards
  • Pancake breakfast! 11-12:45am

Eric Lester Hughes

Eric Hughes was a key member of the Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club from its beginnings in the 1960s.  He served on the board for over 35 years in all capacities. Our distance race is named after him to honor his long and tireless service to our club and to PNW paddling.  You can read about Eric Hughes and the SCKC history on our history page.

In addition to serving SCKC for so many years, he was also instrumental in the early history of the University of Washington Gymnastics program and was inducted into the Gymnastics Hall of Fame.  You can read about Eric Hughes’ service to gymnastics on his Hall of Fame page and his role in the early history of the University of Washington Gymnastics program on the UW Gymnastics history page.
